Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask before signing up

Yes. TechBelt Academy is a nonprofit — classes are free for every family, funded by community donors, sponsors, and grants. There is no tuition and no billing, ever. If a class is not the right fit, your child can simply stop anytime.
No experience needed at all. White Belt starts from absolute zero — no typing, no coding background, nothing. Every belt is designed to meet your child exactly where they are.
Any laptop or desktop with a modern web browser works for most belt levels. Roblox Studio requires Windows or Mac. We send a full device checklist when you enroll so you know exactly what is needed for your child's belt.
Both. We run live, instructor-led classes over Zoom — not pre-recorded videos — so kids anywhere can join. We also offer in-person sessions with partner schools and community sites across Dallas–Fort Worth. Your child joins a small group (max 10 students), codes along with the teacher in real time, and gets personal attention every session.
Bit is TechBelt's own AI coding tutor, built by our founder and trained on our belt curriculum. It gives enrolled students a safe place to ask coding questions and get guided help with homework 24/7. Bit never just gives away answers — it coaches students toward solutions, the same way our instructors do. Bit is currently in development and launching soon for enrolled students.
Yes! Siblings are welcome. If they are different ages they may be in different belt levels, but we can often schedule them back-to-back for your convenience. Mention this on your enrollment form and we will do our best to accommodate.
No problem. All sessions are recorded for enrolled students. Your child can watch the recording and pick up the project at home. Missing one class will not put them behind — the curriculum is designed to be flexible.

What Parents Are Saying

Real feedback from families who have experienced TechBelt Academy

★★★★★

My daughter talks about TechBelt all week. She built her own Roblox game and could not stop showing everyone. I never thought she would love coding this much.

TW

Tanisha Williams

Parent — Orange Belt student
★★★★★

My son finished White Belt and was already asking about the next one. He showed his grandfather the game he built in Scratch. His grandfather could not believe a 7-year-old made that.

JM

James Mensah

Parent — White Belt graduate
★★★★★

I was looking for a STEM program that costs our school and families nothing. TechBelt handles everything — the curriculum, instruction, all of it. My students are actually learning to code, not just playing games.
